The Vineyard
Viticulture: biodynamics
At 275 metres of altitude, the Sporen forms a natural cirque, its gentle slopes facing south-east. Its soil is made up of lias clay-marl, decalcified on the surface, exceptionally rich in phosphoric acid, a factor of seasonal earlyness, itself a sign of quality. Its deep soils protect against drought in years of low rainfall, allowing the vine roots to explore the soil and extract all the trace elements which contribute to the complexity of its wines. Covering 23.7 ha, the Sporen is principally planted with Gewurztrammer and Pinot Gris.
