This wine is the fruit of a collaboration between Pierre and Louis Trapet. It is made from vines that grow in a clay-sandstone terroir in Pflixbourg, not far from Colmar. The vines are cultivated biodynamically, meaning that they are closely cared for, and the grapes are harvested by hand. The Gewurztraminer juice is fermented in amphora containers before a maceration lasting a month – this is what confers such an incredible, rich texture. It is surprisingly orange in colour. For a maceration wine, this cuvée is wonderful in its youth! It has a frank nose that evolves into notes of dried fruit and citrus peel. Its palate is silky, balanced with delicate tannins. Why not try it with cheese? Something like a blue cheese or one with a hard rind would be wonderful. This maceration Gewurztraminer has an aging potential of over 10 years.
