The Vineyard
Between Margaux and Pauillac, on the left bank of the Gironde estuary, Saint-Julien is a small appellation of 920 hectares which gives all its letters of nobility to the vineyards of the Médoc.
As far as the eye can see, the ground is covered with pebbles which naturally regulate the temperature of the ground. Gravels, sands and clays are the other components of this geological alchemy, the result of sedimentary deposits that the Garonne deposited in the Quaternary. The appellation’s vineyards stretch over ridges finely chiseled by erosion and designed to promote better drainage. The man could not have done better.
The Harvest
Solar vintage, the climatic conditions of 2010 are very reminiscent of 2009, with however lower temperatures.
The wine itself evokes both the classicism of 2008 and the style with more power of 2005.
Harvest dates: October 1 to 18
The Cellar
The new double-walled tapered tanks allow for the first time, to isolate each parcel of the future Grand Vin and to carry out a cold pre-fermentation maceration under optimum conditions.
The results are immediate on the aromatic intensity of the fruit and the quality of extraction of the tannins.
Cabernet Sauvignon also reveals all the purity of its fruit on this vintage.
